We are all familiar with color—it literally surrounds us. Color, as we perceive it, is one of the ways we experience the physical world.

Think how an orange sunrise can fill us with wonder, a calm blue ocean can bring a sense of peace, or a bright spring garden can spark joy.

At the Gemstone Therapy Institute, we recognize the very real influence that colors have on us. But we take this a step further by working with color rays and the special gemstones that carry them.

In this article, we’ll compare colors and color rays and look at key differences between them so you can better understand and appreciate them for what they are.

Let’s start with how color and color rays are defined.

Color is a property produced by light. When natural or artificial light hits an object, it causes the eye to perceive certain colors.

Color rays, however, ARE light. They are the life-giving energies that comprise our body and being. Because they originate in the spiritual white light within us, which enlivens every part of us, color rays can affect every aspect of our being, from our cells to our emotions and thoughts.

While color can be seen, color rays cannot—at least not by the average human eye. This is similar to how the body can be seen but its aura is not visible to most people. However, there are some energetically gifted people who can sense or even see auras. Those who have this ability can usually see color rays too.

Although most of us can’t see color rays, they affect us all the time. Colors can influence us too, but only when they’re visible. In the dark, we can’t see them, and so they don’t affect us.

Another difference between color and color rays is that colors are static; they don’t move. Color rays, on the other hand, are constantly moving in a healthy person. In order to maintain and sustain health, life-giving energy is continually flowing through every part of us.

The number of possible colors and color rays also reveals a difference. Look around you and you’ll probably see hundreds of colors in varying shades. But there are only seven color rays: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and purple.

Colors can be combined to form other colors, and the possibilities are endless. Color rays cannot be combined or mixed, but are always present in a spectrum that contains all seven individual color rays. This is also a key to their measurability.

Color and color rays can both be measured—just in different ways.

Scientists use spectrographs to measure color. Pictured below is the spectrograph of oxygen. We can’t see oxygen or its spectrum, but like color rays, we know it’s there, because we experience it with every breath.

At the Gemstone Therapy Institute, we’ve found a way to measure the amount of color rays in any given area of the body. The information we’ve collected has taught us that areas of the body experiencing stress or unwellness tend to have imbalanced and deficient spectrums.

We have also learned that we can rebalance and restore these spectrums using certain color-ray-bearing gemstones.

This is significant because color ray spectrums form the energetic fabric of our being. If we can shift the energies associated with physical tissue, we can help the body to heal itself naturally.

Measuring color is important in the food, manufacturing, and cosmetics industries to ensure consistency from one product batch to another. This is done using sophisticated instruments.

Measuring color rays is something anyone can learn to do using a simple tool called a color ray test circle. Moreover, spectrums tell a story. You can learn to determine the strength, quality, and effectiveness of the spectrums of any part of the body you want to test.

The results can indicate how complex an imbalance in the body is, how long it might take to heal, and whether a certain remedy or treatment is going to help or not. This can be invaluable information for anyone, and especially practitioners.

In chromotherapy, colored lights are presented one at a time. In color ray healing, you work with full spectrums of color (because as you learned earlier, color rays are always found in spectrums of seven, not individually).

You might think that applying a gemstone like Ruby, for example, would mean you’re only working with the red color ray. This is a common misconception about color ray gemstones. Even though they appear a certain color and carry more of that one color ray, they still carry the other six color rays as well.

This brings us to our final difference: Individual colors can be healing on their own, but color rays must work together to heal. Ultimately, it is the act of balancing color ray spectrums that is therapeutic, not the effects of any one color ray.

Balancing Color Ray Spectrums

To help the body’s spectrums stay as balanced as possible, we work with tools that carry all seven colors in a natural, organized way.

Nature provides certain healing tools for this purpose. Healing Diamonds carry a spectrum of all colors in approximately equal measure and can be used to work with spectrums as a whole. (Learn Diamond Therapy?)

Color ray gemstones carry all seven color rays as well, but one is more dominant than the others.
When you learn color ray healing, you can use these gems to work with individual color rays within a spectrum. This allows you to correct specific imbalances causing health issues, unwanted life experiences, and myriad other concerns.
