The Earth Star chakra is one that most people have never heard of.
It doesn’t appear on the standard seven-chakra charts. It isn’t discussed in most yoga classes or popular energy healing books. And yet, in my decades of practice, I have come to believe it’s just as important as the other energy centers we carry.
The Earth Star chakra sits below your feet. It travels with you wherever you go. And it holds something extraordinary — information you placed there yourself, before you were born, about why you are here and what you came to do.
Right now, in this particular moment in history, its story has never been more urgent to tell.
What the Earth Star Chakra Actually Does
Right before you were born, you encoded certain information into your Earth Star chakra. Not vague, general information, but specific knowledge about your purpose in this lifetime. The particular contribution only you can make. The direction your life is meant to take. Where will the turning points be, and what actions will keep you on track to fulfilling your mission?
As your life unfolds, this information is designed to come forward. To surface at the moments when you need it most — when you’re facing an important decision, standing at a crossroads, or wondering whether the path you’re on is truly yours.
At night, while you sleep, your root chakra reaches downward to connect with your Earth Star chakra to retrieve some of this information. This is why “sleeping on it” actually works. Going to bed with a question and waking with unexpected clarity isn’t a coincidence or imagination. It is your own inner intelligence doing exactly what it was designed to do — accessing the knowledge you already carry.
Your Connection to the Earth Star Chakra
When this flow is open and unobstructed, life takes on special meaning. Your sense of direction feels reliable, so decisions come more easily. You have a felt sense of purpose that anchors you even in uncertain times. You know, at some level, who you are and where you’re going.
When the flow is blocked — when the connection to the Earth Star chakra is disrupted or inaccessible — something else happens entirely. You drift or feel lost without being able to say why. You work hard but can’t quite find your footing. Or you sense that you’re meant for something, but the signal is too faint to follow.
That quiet, persistent feeling that you’re missing something essential — that is often the Earth Star chakra asking to be heard.
The Stone That Makes the Connection
For those of us who work in Gemstone Therapy, there is one gemstone with a profound and specific affinity for the Earth Star chakra. Its energy opens the door to this chakra’s stored information and draws it forward — into the body, into the mind, into conscious awareness where it can actually be acted upon.
That stone is Azurite-Malachite.
With its vivid patches of deep blue and bright green, Azurite-Malachite is unmistakable. Beautiful, yes — but its value in therapeutic work goes far beyond its appearance. A Stone Lost to War
In 1987, when I first began working with healing gemstone spheres, Azurite-Malachite was available. Not easy to find in therapeutic quality — it never has been — but available. Typically sourced in Afghanistan, this remarkable stone made its way into collections and practices around the world.
Then, in 2001, war came to Afghanistan. Mining essentially stopped. Since then, genuine, natural, therapeutic-quality Azurite-Malachite became increasingly rare — and increasingly difficult to source.
We have missed it deeply.
The Rise of the Fakes
Into that vacuum came something troubling. Over the past decade, the market has been filled with beads that only look like Azurite-Malachite. In fact, they have been assembled from pieces of individual Azurite and Malachite and glued together under pressure. Then cut and polished into stones that, at first glance, look remarkably like the real thing.
These stones are not therapeutic.
They carry none of the energetic intelligence of naturally occurring Azurite-Malachite. They are imitations, and they lack healing energy and the ability to connect to the Earth Star chakra.
The fakes can be deceiving. Their colors are vivid, and they’re well-polished. To an untrained eye, they can be difficult to distinguish from genuine material.
But there is a telltale sign. In naturally occurring Azurite-Malachite, the blue and green exist as distinct, randomly distributed swaths — the result of two minerals growing together organically over time.
In assembled stones, the Malachite appears in lines and bands. Nature does not produce Malachite in bands when Azurite surrounds it. Those lines are the signature of human manufacture, not natural growth.
If you are purchasing Azurite-Malachite from any source, look for the lines. Their presence tells you they’re only pretty jewelry.
How to Use the Earth Star Necklace
Wearing the necklace is the most obvious way to enjoy its benefits — but there are two additional methods worth knowing about, both of which work specifically with the Earth Star’s location below the feet.
Placing the necklace below your feet while you sleep.
Spiral the necklace on a surface below your feet — a footboard, a bedside stool, or even a dresser across the room. The distance doesn’t need to be precise. Even when the stones are several feet away they can still be effective.
This method is particularly helpful when you suspect your root chakra hasn’t been connecting fully to your Earth Star chakra — which may be the case when you feel especially directionless, to the point where the feeling of being rudderless is drifting toward depression. Letting the stones work from below while you sleep gives the connection an opportunity to re-establish itself gently, overnight.
Spiraling the necklace beneath your chair while you work.
This is a practice I return to often. When I was writing my first novel, having Azurite-Malachite spiraled beneath my chair helped me tune into the destinies of my characters with a clarity I hadn’t been able to access otherwise.
Today, with my focus on teaching Diamond and Gemstone Therapy, I find it helps me stay on track and limit distractions — keeping me tethered to my purpose even when the demands of the day pull in other directions.
A Note for Energy Work Practitioners
Placing Azurite-Malachite on the floor during client sessions offers a specific benefit for practitioners. It helps keep you grounded and connected to your own energy field — which in turn keeps you more present with your client, while reducing the likelihood of absorbing their unwanted energies.
This is something I introduce in my Level 1 Gemstone Therapy workshops. At a certain point during the workshop, I give students Azurite-Malachite to place at their feet or beneath the treatment table and ask them to notice the difference. The shift is often immediate and unmistakable.
