Some energy medicine authorities have written about the association of the crown chakra with the pituitary gland, while others assert that it’s connected with the pineal gland.

In this article, I’m going to weigh in with evidence that suggests not only a relationship between the crown chakra and pituitary gland, but also one between the brow chakra and pineal gland.

This claim bears no disrespect to authors proposing the opposite. It shows that as new insight and information become available in energy research, we have an opportunity to expand our knowledge. Sometimes that means our understanding also shifts.

The findings of medical research aren’t set in stone, either. A study published in 2019 analyzed 3017 randomized controlled trials, which are considered the most reliable type of research, from the previous 15 years. About 13% of these trials led to conclusions that would reverse prior treatments or practice recommendations.

In other words, about 392 studies showed findings that challenged those of previous research!

Curiosity and the research that follows, whether in energy medicine or modern medicine, shows healthy inquiry. It is intellectual evolution at work.

Why Is It Important to Associate the Crown Chakra with the Pituitary?

Before we examine why the crown chakra should be associated with the pituitary rather than the pineal gland, it’s important to understand why it needs to be associated with either gland at all.

It has to do with the chakras’ intelligence centers. These feed the chakras, regulate their activity, and store information about them. Every chakra has one intelligence center.

The crown and brow are the only two chakras whose intelligence centers lie within specific physical locations, namely the pituitary and pineal glands. The other chakras’ intelligence centers are all nonlocal, which means they’re not directly associated with physical anatomy.

In a session, if you can identify the specific locations of the crown and brow chakras’ intelligence centers, you can target them when you want to address their associated chakra. This is easily done with Diamond and Gemstone Therapy methods.

This is why it’s so important—especially for practitioners—to know which gland corresponds to which chakra. It would be terribly confusing to the body if you thought you were treating one chakra’s intelligence center but were actually working with another’s.

Comparing Chakra and Gland Locations

The physical locations of the pituitary and pineal glands are one indication of which serves which chakra.

If you carefully examine the location of the crown chakra (Fig. 1), you’ll see that it is actually forward of the body’s coronal midline.

It is not in the very center of the top of the head. In fact, it is associated with the location of the anterior fontanelle that you once had as an infant.

Figure 2: Location of the pituitary gland (pink) and coronal midline (orange).

As you can see in Figure 2, the pituitary (shown in pink) is also forward of this midline (shown in orange), beneath the crown chakra.

The pineal gland is located on the same transverse plane as the brow chakra.

The transverse plane on which the pituitary lies lines up with the bridge of the nose, which is too low to correspond with the brow chakra.

You’ll also notice that the energetic window to the pituitary is just below the external occipital protuberance at the back of the head, which is also the location of the crown chakra’s back door.

This is the posterior window through which you can access the chakra’s intelligence center in Diamond and Gemstone Therapy.

Figure 3: The pineal gland sits on the transverse plane shown in indigo, which lines up with the brow chakra. The transverse plane associated with the pituitary gland (shown in purple) is too low to support the brow.

Comparing Chakra and Gland Functions

Comparing the functions of the glands and chakras can also help us correlate one with the other.

Both the pituitary gland and the crown chakra have governing functions. The pituitary gland is often considered the master gland because it controls several of the other endocrine glands. Likewise, the crown chakra is a master chakra. It controls the amount of Heaven energy the body and all of its chakras receive.

Besides its association with intuition, the brow chakra is commonly linked with dreams and sleep. So too is the pineal gland. The pineal gland produces melatonin, which supports healthy sleep and sleep cycles.

Comparing Chakra and Gland Primary Color Rays

Every part of the body is nourished by a spectrum of color. There is always one dominant color in the spectrum, which we call the primary ray. When organs, tissues, glands, and chakras share the same primary ray, we can observe relationships between them.

When they are healthy, both the crown chakra and the pituitary gland have spectrums that dominate in the purple color ray.

The healthy brow chakra and pineal gland both thrive on an abundance of indigo color ray. A simple color ray test can verify this.

Clearly, there’s a locational, functional, and color ray connection between the crown chakra and the pituitary gland, and the brow chakra and the pineal gland. I invite you to verify this connection using your own methods.

Learn How to Work with Chakras!

Using a method called Applied Chakra Analysis, you can evaluate each chakra’s direction, length, strength, and shape, and assess the meanings of any anomalies you find. The information you gain will help you understand how chakra anomalies affect your health, or that of your clients or patients.

Learn how to work with your own chakras in my new six-week course, GDI 122: The Applied Chakra Analysis Method.

The Gemstone Therapy Institute Diamond Therapy certified practitioners are qualified to provide clients with comprehensive chakra evaluation and correction. Visit our practitioner directory and contact them if you are interested.
