After receiving a series of three Gemstone Therapy sessions over three days, Roberta was so grateful that she wrote to me at length about her experience. Two student practitioners worked together with her to address hip pain, a spider bite, and arm pain. Here’s what she had to say:

I’ve walked with pain in my right hip for at least 30 years. Sometimes I walk with a slight limp; often I’ll just be quiet in pain and uncomfortable.

My first session of Gemstone Therapy was great and filled with good energy. It really felt delightful after the long [five-hour] drive to visit two friends who were also Gemstone Therapy student practitioners.

The next afternoon, we proceeded with session two. This one started smoothly, but as it progressed, I got really squirmy, unable to get comfortable with my hip. It was apparent to us all, so after working about 45 minutes, we all decided it was time to stop. I was more than ready to get off the table. Practitioner 1 was finishing up.  Practitioner 2 was holding space.

I don’t remember which one asked what was bothering me with the hip, but the next thing we knew, Practitioner 1 started pulling gunk out of my right knee [using the White Beryl & Turquoise Extraction Technique]. I said it felt like an octopus and the tentacles were being pulled from the hip! The practitioner said he felt as though he was pulling an endless tapeworm-like thing! He pulled and tossed into the endless vortex, over and over again. As Practitioner 2 held space, I could feel more and more release. It was amazing. The three of us literally worked for the next hour.

Practitioner 1 had also put a window on my brown recluse spider bite, which resurfaces at least once a year. I was bitten on my right cheek about five years ago. “While you’re at it,” I joked, “you can pull out whatever is in my arm that is keeping me awake at night.” So the practitioner pulled and tossed!

When we decided we were all complete, it was amazing. I easily rolled off the table—with no pain. I felt empty, so we headed for the nearest Whole Foods store, where I ate a huge plate of food—far more than my usual amount. With re-filling complete (and that is just what it seemed to be), I proceeded to walk the entire store with no pain. Then we went to Trader Joe’s, and again I walked the entire store with no pain. That wasn’t enough; I bounced into Food Lion (to pick up a copy of the newspaper). I was used to walking through stores with concrete floors and having my hip thrown into spasms of pain.

That night, I happily slept without my arm waking me up rolling in pain, the first time in months.

We did another session the next day just to do some clean-up work. There was more pulling of those “tentacles” from my knee until it seemed clear again.

In the afternoon, I headed home with what felt like a totally different body than the one I had arrived with.

The following weekend, I was lead point person for the Asheville Wholistic and Integrative Fair. This required walking the space, which was at a local hotel, several times on Friday evening and then being on my feet the next day for a full 12 hours. All that time on concrete. What a test, and my body passed with flying colors! I was up bright and early on Sunday morning and running smoothly.

Additionally, I was talking most of Friday evening and through the day Saturday. I have severe TMJ dysfunction, so talking for any length of time is painful and my jaw generally swells. You might wonder why this is important to the story…well, remember that window that Practitioner 1 put on my cheek for the spider bite? The bite’s ugliness remained, but it appears that the window worked on the mandible joint (the right one is my worst one). And that pain hasn’t returned.

I spent the following weekend out of town actively being a tourist and attending multiple social events. And guess what?  No pain!

All in all, this has been one of the most physically challenging and active months I’ve experienced in a long time. My hip has not had one problem. I haven’t been awakened a single night by my arm, and since I’m a writer and editor, it gets a great workout every day. Even my back has remained happy (yes, it is compromised also) and my jaw has not complained.
